About

Dr. Molchan is the founder of Molchan & Associates, Inc., and offers psychotherapy to clients in Uniontown and Pittsburgh, PA. Deborah is a Master’s credentialed licensed psychologist. In 2013, Dr. Molchan completed her doctorate in psychology. As an adjunct professor, she taught graduate-level clinical psychology courses at Pennsylvania Western University and undergraduate psychology courses at Pennsylvania Western University and Pennsylvania State University. Her specialized training in mindfulness interventions, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), sports psychology, her doctorate in psychology, the mind-body connection, and her doctoral teaching & research assistant position for the Psychology of the Body all support her psychotherapy practice. Dr. Molchan has a keen interest in how exercise supports our mental well-being. Deborah has presented to collegiate athletes at Westminster College, Moravian College, and local high school sports teams. She has self-published audio CDs on Mental Practice for Pole Vaulting and Mental Practice for Golf (2007), which she uses in mental training. In 2022, Dr. Molchan published Llama Locomotion (Oprelle Publications), which educates children on the brain benefits of exercise. When Deborah is not working, she enjoys skiing, golfing, sailing, wake surfing, and yoga with family and friends.

  • Telehealth sessions– online in Dr. Molchan’s virtual office.
  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy– examining the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behavior to support healthy changes.
  • Mindfulness-informed therapy– the practice of being in the present moment, with awareness and releasing judgment.
  • Emotional Freedom Techniques– the American Psychological Association endorses EFT interventions to treat stress and trauma. This intervention is an authorized treatment for persons with PTSD, and EFT has demonstrated benefits in treating anxiety, depression, physical pain, and insomnia. EFT engages cognitive behavioral therapy and tapping on acupressure points to resolve physical and emotional issues.
  • Heart-Rate-Variability Biofeedback- A stressed heart rate is more erratic, whereas a calm and grateful heart is in a state of heart coherence Learn to change your HRV through biofeedback to improve mood, focus and manage stress.
  • Mental Training for Sports- Learn tools of visualization, imagery, HRV biofeedback self-talk, and goal setting to improve your sports performance.
  • Speaking Engagements- Molchan presents to schools and parent groups teaching about the link between exercise and neuroscience. In a lively and fun presentation, Deborah inspires the audience to move their body to change their mood and improve their focus.
